What Is Black Mold ? Black mold also known as Stachybotrys or toxic black mold is hazardous to humans. Black mold loves to grow anywhere there is moisture and it doesn't take much to get it growing. It can grow any where in the house and if you have a small amount like near a basement faucet or damp corner You may be able to take care of it yourself. However you will still need to wear the protective clothing and safety gear like a respirator and goggles and a coverall suit. you guys are right, molds live in a wet, damp and waterfilled room. some of the houses like this are old but still lived on. i suggest you go find a good engineer that specializes on this and waterproof basements that you find or live in.
